Good afternoon!

If you are new to following Creekside Cottage School, welcome! If you have been around, thank you for your support. We are a homeschool hybrid program in Columbus, Ohio. We are a group made up of former public school teachers and homeschool moms who wanted a different type of education for our children. We couldn’t find it, so we created it! You will find out a lot about us from our website but weekly happenings will come from this email. Each week, we will give you:

  • An academic highlight

  • A nature highlight

  • An enrichment highlight

  • An enrollment update

  • A community highlight

Academic Highlight

  • We recently updated our About section of our website and you can read all about the teachers there! For a quick intro, we have:

    • Jackie Bonath: Founder and Scouts teacher (Hi! It’s me sending the emails!)

    • Jenn Partee: Founder and Sprouts teacher

    • Ashley Strominger: Founder and Saplings Teacher

    • Hannah Lemont: Founder and Music + Movement Teacher

    • Chelsea Kuhn: Founding family and Art Teacher

    • Lindsey Stamper: Founder and Forestways OT Nature Play Teacher

Nature Highlight

Lindsey Stamper, an Occupational Therapist in the Columbus area worked (and will continue to work!) with some of our Explorer’s. This coming school year, she is bringing a new program to all Explorer’s called Forestways OT Nature Play. Once a month, students will get to participate in a lesson that involves story telling, play acting, and loose parts creation- all in the woods. We had some of our CCS families meet up this past weekend to clear out the woods we will be having these lessons in and it looks so great! We can not wait to get Explorer’s out into this space in September.

Enrichment Highlight

Enrichments are the part of our week that extend beyond academics and nature study. Every Tuesday we have Music + Movement class led by Hannah Lemont. Each Thursday we have art class led by Chelsea Kuhn and once a month on Friday’s we have Forestways OT Nature play led by Lindsey Stamper. We also include field trips as part of our enrichment. Almost every Friday we are out in the community on a field trip, most of the time learning about a topic that we were studying in history or science.

Enrollment Update

We currently have no spots for the 2026-2027 school year. We are fine tuning our enrollment process for the 2027-2028 school year and will start sending out information about it in the fall. If you are interested in that process, please join our waitlist for those specific emails.

Community Update

Do you know about Tincan phones? A large number of CCS families purchased them over the winter and we LOVE them. It is like a landline phone that only lets numbers you approve go in and out. It is a great way for all of our kids to stay connected over the summer when they don’t necessarily live close. Check them out!

We hope that you are having a relaxing summer and enjoying this beautiful weather!
